Day 1 15th June 2011

Trying to keep a rein on my day-to-day spending this month.  Areas of weakness include taking a break from my desk at lunchtime, and browsing shops, an absolute skill for persuading myself I need something, and the fact that buying things simply pleases me.  But do I need what I've bought? Probably not.  So for this month wanted to note what I have spent day by day and see if a spot of introspection can help with this minor shopping addiction.

So, Pay Day, another dangerous day - my little brain thinks - so much money in my bank account!  Surely it won't make any difference if I just buy...whatever is in front of me, shiny and new...

Spent:
Coffee - £1.50
Lunch in staff restaurant - £4
Plants in HOmebase - £10.50
Ticket to sing with Jon Boden at Cecil Sharpe House - £15
DLR ticket because I forgot season ticket - £4
Total: £35

Well it's not great is it.  Excuses? 1. Had to buy the plants as I have, late in the growing season, taken over a growing patch in Penge (a community space behind St. John's Church).  2. Coffee and lunch are unavoidable, kind of.   3. Ticket to see Jon Boden?  Sorry just not so skint that I couldn't justify that one.  4. DLR ticket?  well, we got home late from weekend in Barcelona, so not surprised I forgot my ticket, and DLR kindly took £25 off me the last time I forgot my ticket.
